Last updated October 20, 2026. Steelmemo is run by Trelmir, Inc.
What we keep
- Your email address, to sign you in and to tell you when a memo is ready.
- Your questions, the files and links you attach, and the memos, push-backs and ratings that follow.
- What you bought and when. Stripe takes the card; we never see the card number.
- One sign-in cookie, for 90 days. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking scripts.
- For an hour, the network address questions come from, to stop floods. It's held in memory, not stored.
Who else handles it
To write a memo, your question and the files you attach are sent to four AI labs through their paid APIs. Under their API terms, none of them trains its models on this data by default. Each keeps it for a limited time to check for abuse, then deletes it:
- Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT) and xAI (Grok): up to 30 days.
- Google (Gemini): up to 55 days.
If you give a public GitHub link, we download those files from GitHub. Four more companies help run Steelmemo:
- Stripe, for payments.
- Resend, which sends our emails and keeps a record of them for 30 days.
- Cloudflare, which carries traffic to the site and stores our encrypted backups.
- Hetzner, whose server in Oregon, USA runs Steelmemo.
Only the founder can read questions and memos, to fix problems and to answer you when you write. We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else.
If you share a memo, anyone with the link can read it, including your question and file names, until you press Stop sharing.
How long we keep it
- Files you attach: deleted 30 days after you ask. Their names stay with the memo.
- Questions, memos and history: until you delete them.
- Delete my data, on your Account page, deletes your files, memos and history at once. Encrypted backups of our database are kept for 14 days, so a deleted item is gone from those within 14 days.
- Sign-in links stop working after 15 minutes.
Please don't attach
Passwords, API keys or other secrets, or personal details about people that the question doesn't need (customer records, health or money details). Take them out of logs before you attach them.
Who it's for
Steelmemo is for work, and for people 18 or older.
